Obfuscation, DE-OBFUSCATION Techniques, AND Life!

<Warning I am not a professional writer so go kick rocks>

So there are some tools out there that can be use to Obfuscate, You can probably find a lot of them but some of them Will by-pass basically everything. At the same time some of this tools can be used to reverse engineering some of the problems. This is why sometimes it is better to get out of our comfort zone.

I was introduced to the library py-armor and let me tell you if you do not know what it is, I would recommend you at least take a look at it. it is a very simple tool that you install it the same as every other python library. Once you use this library you will love it. It is not the common developers library but if you ever need to Obfuscate some of those passwords or any sensitive information or even some your code so no one else can use it or if you want to protect it, you might as well do your thing and Obfuscate that information. Coming from the Developers Side of the house this stuff is not taught.

Developers kind of focus on Developers things and Algorithms/ that kind of stuff. To be honest I can’t save my life with Algorithms, I am old and I would much rather auto complete or copy and paste. My mind works different. In fact I get bored with algorithms. I can find the answers online for all the questions in Algoexpert, I can’t do them my self though, same with Leet-code. It is not that I suck maybe I do, it is just the fact that I just don’t want to reinvent the wheel. For some that’s called cheating, for me that’s called using your resources.

Some white board interviews are hard, and I am not going to lie about it, i will fail the the interviews, in fact I did created a C# mobile application with pictures of algorithms just in case one day someone ask me in an interview question, hey do a linked list. I remember the theory but I can’t remember the code to save my life. I figured i just pull out my phone and be like sure there it is. Are you really going to make me write it? HA!!

I mean correct me if I am wrong but everyone in their life has used Google one way or another. We all think differently, Want a free book? Google Dorks, Want to know something about something? Google. it ain’t like you are going to pull out an encyclopedia and look that stuff up. We have Technology now a days and I guess I just try to work smart and not hard.

In the last few weeks I have been learning a lot of new things, a lot of that stuff I knew it but now it is more about getting good with the side of Cyber Security that I started a few years ago, I am happy if I am with my family and just keeping my brain busy some how learning new things.

When I decided to change careers back in 2018 I did it because I knew Tech was going to be something that it was going to be around for a while. I started fixing friends computers, building computers, just asking people and then went to the network side of the house. I learned a lot about networking and luckily i didn’t break anything, build my own network, cables, use switches and that kind of stuff. After that I moved to learn security stuff and turned out that security is huge! to the point that in order to get a job you need experience but more important, you need to know how to convey your value. I created my own lab, I run my own SIEM, I run my own firewalls, I know a lot of tools but back a few years ago I suck with finding bugs. That pushed me to go to college and go for software development focusing in mobile development. I gotten hit in the head too many times so I thought why not? I might as well give it a try because I wanted to be good with code and knowing that if was going to be good with code then that would make me a better security person.

During College turned out that some how the whole COVID thing was in a way a game changer for me, Some how I finished my Bachelors with a 4.0 GPA what is funny is that I did a few interviews right after I finished college and I guess I suck at interviews. LOL! but it goes to show you that how messed up is the system. Maybe some are scared because of my military background, I don’t know. I guess entry level Jobs required experienced, it makes no sense sometimes. I am learning a lot now though. I have a boss that actually cares. Who wants to change the system and help those with skills.

Because of the whole covid thing, I didn’t have to drive 30 mins one way and 30 mins the other way. I only just saw the positive of everything. Coming from the military and being in charged all the time, I needed to take a break, so it was fun being a student. Not being in charged was fun! HAHA! I figured that I just had to worry about getting higher grades than everyone else and help the people around me become better. Some how I do have the what we called Barney Style Teaching Method, and I can retain a lot of material, I can teach stuff in a way that it is easy to understand. I think the best way to learn something is to teach others. It is a great way to get out of your comfort zone and just challenge your self.

For some of you reading this know that Cyber Security is not an entry level field but know that You can get experience by building your own lab, some people say cloud this and cloud that but you have to fail some how to understand how stuff works and what a better way to break your own stuff and learn from it. Maybe the pain of loading your own OS into your own cloud. Maybe just wanting a fast computer. I don’t know what it is, I am slowly getting used to use VMs over everything, it just don’t feel the same to me.

I will be creating a cyber range in the near future to help others specially kids from my town, I want to teach them because this kids now a days are the smartest kids in the world. I guess I just see the positive of everything, Kids are the future and they need people there for them.

This is all for now.

TTYL,

Very Respectfully,

Santi
